Summer is Over! But life doesn’t have to be with your Monthly Minhi Update!

Summer may be on its way out, but Minhi is on her way in!

I can’t quite believe that it’s coming up to October, which signals “Mariah Season”... It’s tiiiiiimmmmeeee.

But before Halloween and Mariah take over how about I tell you about what I’ve been up to.

What I’ve been up to

(Not so) fun-fact, I’m still chained to my corporate desk job which keeps me “working 9-5 (what a way to make a living)”, but it does allow me to buy so much fun drag and serve you all the looks! 

I love our fortnightly (or biweekly for you Canadian’s playing at home) brunch gigs that Perla and I have been hosting at Bellwoods in Toronto. It’s always so much fun, the crowd is exceptional, so generous and willing to just have a farkin’ good time not to mention we have fun guests, but what I love most is meeting everyone that comes along and tells me how beautiful and great I am! Positive reinforcement people! Upcoming brunch dates are all listed on my calendar.

As well as a busy summer with Pride, I’ve also been performing at a range of different events. Weddings, birthdays, end of summer corporate parties, I’m still searching for the opportunity to perform at a wake or funeral. Would probably do Celine Dion, I’m Alive, too soon? I’m just back from Palm Springs where I was hosting a special 50th birthday - not mine (shut it, Perla!). Palm Springs, its very dry… kinda like your (blank).

In other news, I also went to Valencia for my 3rd GayGames with my water polo team - the Toronto Triggerfish. Did we win? No. Did we have a better time out of the water? Yes.

What’s coming up?

I’m heading to Australia, Melbourne and Sydney in particular. It’s mostly going to be a lot of family time - eating snot blocks, sausage rolls, pies and lamingtons - but while I’m in Melbourne I’m catching up with the winner of Drag Race Down Under Lazy Susan and her sister Zelda Moon for a bit of live podcast action. By the end of October, I will have triumphantly returned to Toronto just in time for a ooky spooky dooky pookie Halloween Dinner at Bellwoods on October 31st with obviously Perla, and special guests Helena Poison and Yuen Young! It’ll be a night of halloween inspired performances, fun spooky silly games, prizes, costume competition and obviously delicious food from Bellwoods. More details around tickets coming soon!

Ok hints for who i’ll be dressing up as, SHE has a very distinct “voice”, a questionable lesbian, strong, violent, heroic… Good at frisbee!

Minhi Mart

MERCH! MERCH! MERCH! Honestly who doesn’t love merch! I know I do! It just feels so personal and you’re also supporting the actual person/brand.

A big shoutout to my friends Muka, who have helped me design and produce my merch line! Especially Anita who drew up all the concepts! If you buy any of my merch, I need you to know that I’m the one packing it up and tootling down to the post-office to mail it off to you. It’s a hands-on, nails-off kind of operation. I’m a bit of a business-woman, an entrepreneur if you will. I like selling stuff!
